Department Summary
The University-wide COVID-19 Monitoring and Assessment Program (COVID-19-MAP), through an assignment to the Prevention Science Institute (PSI) at the University of Oregon, coordinates staffing to implement development and execution of MAP's SARS-CoV-2 sample collection and community testing efforts. Housed within the Office of the Vice President of Research and Innovation (OVPRI), PSI is a multi-disciplinary institute focused on understanding human development, preventing behavioral health problems, and implementing effective interventions in community settings. The core mission of the PSI is to improve the lives and well-being of children, individuals, and families throughout the lifespan. PSI works with the COVID-19-MAP leadership team, and under its direction assists in leadership, staffing human subjects research teams, and coordinates with community partners and liaisons.

Position Summary

We are hiring to fill multiple positions.

The Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx-UP) grant serves to scale-up SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) testing to Latinx communities throughout the state. We will collaborate with 6 or more counties to implement a total of 36 sites and will work with community organizations to create and implement community navigator interventions (Promotores). This project has the potential to enhance COVID-19 testing access and reach for a significantly underserved population that is vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2 transmission and who is at increased risk for severe COVID-19 symptoms.

The Testing Facilitator provides key coordination and support for COVID-19 testing events associated with the RADx-UP initiative. This position will be responsible for HIPAA compliance, facilitating sample collections via self-administered nasal swab, ensuring collection and completion of accompanying intake data, and assisting with transport or mailing of samples for processing. The Testing Facilitator will work under the guidance and the support of the Field Coordinator, and this position requires the ability to work a five-hour shift in full personal protective equipment.

This position requires travel to multiple COVID-19 testing locations within a region, and potentially across Oregon. The position will last through August 31, 2021.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR experience relevant to the duties of this position (customer service, community organizing, any medical experience, data collection, etc.)
  • Fluent bilingual (English/Spanish) or monolingual Spanish speaker or fluent speaker of an endemic indigenous language (such as Mam)

  • Basic computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software and iPad-AD-based survey tools
  • Highly efficient and organized approach to work and strong attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Ability to respond quickly and thoughtfully should logistical problems arise at a testing site
  • Familiarity with customer service techniques and the ability to enthusiastically and confidently relate project information
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently, with supervision as needed
  • Ability to multi-task, especially in complicated fast-moving scenarios
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, in non-traditional and community-based settings
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting for and/or collecting biospecimen samples
  • Experience working on a research study
