Department Summary
The School of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) is concerned with the ways governments, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions address some of the most important problems facing society today. With the unique policy and planning environment of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, PPPM builds off this region's international reputation for livability, pioneering planning, and innovative policy as we explore how to make the world a better place. To pursue these goals, the programs are organized around five areas of expertise: land use and the built environment; environmental planning and policy; social and health policy; community development; and nonprofit management and philanthropy.

Position Summary
The purpose of this announcement is to identify highly-motivated researchers from a variety of related disciplines such as public policy, transportation, and non-profit management who are interested in joining the Department of Planning, Public Policy Management and/or the Institute for Policy and Research Engagement to assist with or lead national and internationally relevant natural research. Positions are non-career, non-tenure track, and may be full or part-time.
Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

The applicant pool will be used to identify highly-motivated, high-quality candidates interested in contributing to applied research and technical assistance projects.

Minimum Requirements
Research Assistant Rank:
  • Master's degree in relevant field.

    Research Associate Rank:
  • Terminal Degree in relevant field.

    Postdoctoral Scholar Rank:
  • Doctoral degree in relevant field.

    In exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience may substitute for the specified level of degree.

    Professional Competencies
  • Exceptional problem-solving.
  • Experience with software troubleshooting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, project management, and time management skills.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated overall commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
