Development Associate

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
The Northeastern community has a tradition of giving back, and each day, we witness the impact of our community's remarkable generosity. Our students are pursuing co-ops in all corners of the globe, growing their cultural fluency and preparing to thrive in the world. Our faculty are delivering leading-edge scholarship, teaching and mentoring tomorrow's leaders. And our researchers are pioneering new lines of inquiry, accelerating discovery in emerging fields. Northeastern University Advancement and the Corporate and Foundation Advancement team play an integral role in engaging the Northeastern community to create a strong, more sustainable, and bright future.

Responsibilities:
This position sustains the mission of the Corporate & Foundation Advancement team, to identify, develop and foster productive relationships between Northeastern and its foundation and corporate prospects and partners. In addition, the Development Associate will support a team of three officers focused on fundraising for engineering, health and science. This role calls for skills in office and operational support, database management and report generation, research, large and small events, meeting scheduling, as well as internal and external communications. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, systems thinking, and a strong work ethic. The individual must be self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage several projects at the same time, and be detail-oriented. Challenges include managing multiple responsibilities in a busy environment, and mastering Advancement and University-wide processes.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and one to three (1-3) years of demonstrated success in a comparable position, preferably in development, or equivalent years of professional experience required. Candidate must be a mature pro-fessional who can manage and facilitate a fluctuating and, at times intense workload, and produce quality results in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage multiple priority projects at once with ease and efficiency. Must be a self-starter who is highly motivated, can think independently and analytically, is organiz-ed, and detail oriented. Must be proactive, anticipate problems, and be resourceful to find workable solutions, and should work well with others at all levels. The ideal candidate has direct experience in building and managing foundation and corporate relationships, possesses strong written and verbal skills, and has solid communication and writing skills. Experience working with databases essential.
