The New York University Division of Libraries is seeking 5-6 user-focused adjunct librarians for the fall semester, 2021, with potential for reappointment in the later semesters. These are exciting opportunities to join the world-class NYU Libraries community as we advance our mission and values. Duties include a number of possible tasks including virtual and in-person reference services, in-depth one-on-one consultations, instructional activities, collections work, and special projects as needed. Adjuncts will work closely with our diverse and collaborative librarian staff, ensuring service hours coverage, meeting incoming requests, and communicating regularly with full-time librarians about activities and needs. We’re seeking both Liaison librarians in the fields of Education, Nursing, and Performing Arts as well as Generalist Reference and Instruction librarians.
Adjunct Liaison Librarians work primarily weekday, daytime service hours (Mon – Fri 9am – 6pm) for 10-20 weekly hours (flexible based on availability), with occasional evening hours possible based on availability. For these positions, we’re looking for candidates with a background in the fields of Education, Nursing, Performing Arts and STEM.
Adjunct Reference & Instruction Librarians work primarily evening/weekend service hours at either our Manhattan or Brooklyn locations (Mon - Thu 12pm - 8pm and Sat/Sun 12-6pm) for 10-20 weekly hours. We’re looking for candidates with a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and experiences for these daytime/evening/weekend hours.
All adjuncts must be available for in-person service in New York City, as well as hybrid and virtual support services from home. You must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship and have reliable access to the internet.
