Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of HU Connect.

Reporting to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Director of HU Connect oversees a program that supports first-generation and limited income student success with an overall goal of increased student sense of belonging, retention and persistence.

This position is responsible for the design, implementation and management of all aspects for the HU Connect program, including a pre-orientation session for HU Connect students and a session for their parents/guardians. The position will also develop and coordinate a selection process of and deliver trainings to upper-class students (HU Connect Guides); design and coordinate recruitment for new, eligible students; develop and deliver ongoing activities and programs for the HU Connect students during the academic year; and develop programs and activities that connect students with alumnae/i. The director will also develop, oversee and utilize social media to support the students and parents/guardians. Additionally, this position supervises 2 student workers during the academic year.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree; minimum of three (3) years of related experience; well-developed communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; excellent detail, accuracy, organizational, and budget management skills; ability to develop and maintain social media connections; and Microsoft Office proficiency. Candidates must be able to meet deadlines and goals; be proactive, work independently and collaboratively, and exercise sound judgment; and manage confidential and sensitive matters. Candidates must have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Applicants must have a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations and abilities and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed. Preferred applicants will have experience with small, private higher education institutions or in serving underrepresented student populations. Final candidates will be subject to criminal history and motor vehicle background checks.
