Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of International Programs Coordinator. This position provides assistance to the Director of International Programs with the university’s education abroad programs, international student services, and internationalization initiatives.

The International Programs Coordinator assists in administering the university’s study-abroad programs, including marketing, recruiting, advising, admission, program and office administration, and student program evaluation; represents the office at campus events; manages the department’s abroad program application system; and processes legal and regulatory documentation pertaining to incoming and residential international students. The coordinator serves as a designated school official (DSO) for the Department of Homeland Security’s SEVIS system, is responsible for compliance with SEVIS and federal regulations, and advises international students regarding those regulations.

Additionally, the coordinator works closely with the director to evaluate current policies and procedures while seeking to improve or develop new practices to increase office efficiency, enhance student experiences with the office, offer more adaptive services for students with unique needs, and digitize records. This position also supervises 2-3 student employees during the academic year.

The successful applicant must have a bachelor’s degree, minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience in an international education office or related field, and proficiency with Terra Dotta and Microsoft Office. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, public relations, detail, accuracy, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills; and abilities to manage confidential matters, exercise sound judgment, work independently, and work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Preferred candidates will have previously served as a DSO in SEVIS, and have lived, worked, and/or studied abroad. They will also have experience with advising undergraduate students, various virtual meeting and event platforms, social media, and Ellucian Banner.

DSOs must be United States citizens or lawful permanent residents. A valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations is required, and final candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle background check. Applicants must be able and willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, salary requirement, and contact information for three references . Candidates are encouraged to comment in their cover letter on how their contributions will further the university’s efforts to ensure the success and inclusion of all members of its community. Review of applications will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled.
