PUBLIC & ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARIAN

ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN OR ASSOCIATE LIBRARIAN

INDIANA UNIVERSITY BLOOMINGTON LIBRARIES

The Indiana University Libraries seek a creative and innovative librarian to liaise with students and scholars engaged in the growing discipline of public health, taking into special account how environmental issues affect human health in a multitude of interdisciplinary ways.

Responsibilities: Provide advanced consultation and research support for literature intensive research projects using appropriate health and environmental sciences databases; provide responsive, quality teaching and learning support including the development and execution of instruction programs focused on advanced resources for undergraduate and graduate students; collaborate in programming and engagement activities with librarian colleagues to share research experience and expertise. 

Qualifications:

Required: ALA-accredited graduate degree in library or information science or international equivalent.  Early career and individuals from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with an advanced degree in a relevant subject area and appropriate experience in an academic setting will also be considered; demonstrated interest or experience in instruction and/or research consultation; demonstrated knowledge of public and environmental health disciplinary terminology and familiarity with relevant methods regarding literature access and dissemination; demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate on projects and initiatives; ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track position at the IU Libraries (https://libraries.indiana.edu/file/promotion-and-tenure-criteria-iub-librarians-pdf).

Preferred: Training in the appraisal of public and/or environmental health literature; experience with book and journal selection and/or licensing; familiarity with literature review (e.g. scoping, systematic, meta-analysis, rapid, etc.) search methodologies, guidelines, and standards; familiarity with GIS resources commonly used within public and environmental health research, data visualization skills.
