Job Summary
The Department of Communication at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication to support curriculum in the public relations and integrated media concentrations. The position is to begin August 2022.
Responsibilities
This candidate will be expected to teach courses that support our curriculum, primarily our public relations (principles, management, campaigns), advertising campaigns, social / digital media writing, and strategic media writing courses. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose skill sets include non-profit organizations, grassroots communication campaigns, strategic communication and / or crisis management. An active program of research, and/or creative projects is expected for tenure. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our recruiting efforts, our student organizations, and to support our Non-Profit and Civic Engagement Center. The successful candidate will maintain a 4:4 teaching load each semester. Summer teaching is often available. An active program of research, and/or creative projects is expected for tenure.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include a PhD or MFA completed prior to August 2022. Demonstrated professional production experience and strategic use of social and digital media is expected.
