The Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, is seeking an individual for a full-time non-tenure accruing faculty position in Piscine Vaccinology to include research responsibilities in development of Edwardsiella vectored vaccines to prevent infectious diseases in the aquiculture industry and conduct research to develop superior adjuvants to recruit innate immune responses. The qualified applicant is expected to have extensive expertise in biotechnology, molecular genetics, microbiology, immunology and molecular biology. The applicant must display strong leadership skills and is expected to mentor staff, students and postdoctoral researchers.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, well-organized, able to multi-task, reliable, and able to interact well with others. Salary is negotiable depending upon training and experience.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in biotechnology or a closely related field and postdoctoral experience in innate and acquired immunity, microbiology, molecular genetics and vaccinology technologies; evidence of research productivity (journal publications, patent and grant application submissions, presentations, honors, etc.); expertise in molecular genetic manipulation of Edwardsiella vaccine vectors to synthesize and deliver protective antigens encoded by codon-optimized sequences from diverse pathogens or DNA vaccines encoding such antigens and the evaluation of such vaccines in appropriate fish species after challenge with the bacteria, viral and parasite pathogens targeted for control.
