Primary Function

Provides supervision for multi-function food service areas, specifically catering to ensure customer satisfaction and revenue generation. Implements business practices in order to uphold NIU’s mission and values. Contributes to the account revenue and operating reserves through the implementation of services and creation of opportunities for growth. The individual in this position works under the supervision of the Executive Director of Campus Dining.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

Responsibilities:

• Maintains and develops relationships and satisfaction for all aspects of food production related to catering to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
• Fulfills contractual obligations.
• Plans menus including methods, timetables and costs to support Campus Dining Services strategic plan.
• Accountable for the execution of service quality by maintaining highest level of delivery.
• Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

1. A) Bachelor’s degree in a foods and nutrition program (such as food and lodging management or dietetics) from a recognized institution and five years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or institutional food service operations
OR
B) certification from a two-year program in foods and nutrition from a recognized institution and six years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or institutional food service operations
OR
C) eight years of progressively more responsible supervisory and managerial experience in commercial or instructional food service operations
OR
D) any combination of the above that totals eight years

(Certification as a Food Service Sanitation Manager ( FSSMC ) as prescribed by the Illinois Department of Public Health ( IDPH ), within the six month probationary period.)

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
