Primary Function

Under the direct supervision of a Building Service Foreman, perform the necessary custodial work to meet and maintain Building Services’ high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Perform other duties closely related to those defined in the class specifications. Examples include: making within building moves such as office furniture, bookshelves, mattresses, etc.; setting up chairs, tables, podiums, etc., for special events; moving fire extinguishers for service or yearly check; moving mats and other athletic equipment; cleaning and blowing down the stadium after football and other events; maintaining and cleaning the parking garage; cleaning areas during and after construction and/or remodeling if it is not a part of the contractor’s contract to do so; removing snow; replacing light bulbs and cleaning fixtures in a safe manner; locking and unlocking doors to buildings, classrooms, offices, restrooms, etc.; cleaning and sanitizing swimming pools and locker rooms; informing the Building Service Foreman of any equipment, machinery, or specific area in building needing repair. Building Service Workers are responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of assigned university owned and/or leased property.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

The person in this position reports to a Building Service Foreman. He/she receives written and/or oral instructions for the execution of duties in addition to following previously established routine work procedures and schedules.
Floor maintenance.
Restroom maintenance.
Wash walls, clean and polish furniture. Clean blackboards.
Interior trash removal. Snow removal.
Clean glass and railings. Replace light bulbs.
Operate cleaning equipment including automatic scrubbers and power sweepers (including rider type), all types of wet pick-ups and dry vacuums, power blowers, backpack vacuums, window washers and floor machines.

• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Various; 4am-Noon, 6am-2pm & 6pm-2am shifts
Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly)
$16.00 hourly as determined by union contract plus eligible benefits
