Portland Community College is seeking a Manager of New Student Engagement to provide college-wide comprehensive programming and services in support of the onboarding of new students. This is a new position as a result of reorganization and you will have the ability to create and impact change. The successful candidate will be able to build an environment that inspires and communicates a sense of belonging and care to a diverse group of students beginning their educational journey at the college. There will be opportunities to expand programming to ensure every student has an onboarding/orientation experience, mentoring teams, creating greater access and resources to students, and providing strategic cross-departmental collaboration. This role will advance our efforts toward achieving equitable student success by pulling our students who sit on the margins to center. Candidate Profile

  • Ability to foster, create, and empower an effective team of individuals during major institutional changes and whose focus is aligned on equitable student success and retention; utilizing listening skills and mindfully supporting organizational and individual transformation
  • Demonstrated commitment, vision and experience with project management to create programming and equitable systemic structures that cultivate and foster student belonging and holistically serving each student, contextualized to their individual lived experiences and their intended academic goals
  • Demonstrated facility with, and understanding value of, using data and assessment outcomes for decision-making, planning and making continuous improvement for program and services; Demonstrates awareness of how racism and other biases are coded into data technology and how this impacts the student experience, as well as efforts towards a more student-centered model of service
  • Ability to communicate and execute a vision for student-centered (flexible, multimodal including digital) delivery of services through oral and written mediums; ability to shift staff toward a more student-centered model that is accessible and inclusive


Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Master’s Degree in a student services related field, Education, Business, or other related field
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination
  • Two (2) years of management/supervisory experience


OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a student services related field, Education, Business, or other related field
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination
  • Two (2) or more years of management/supervisory experience


OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination
  • Two (2) or more years of management/supervisory experience


OR

  • Nine (9) years of progressively responsible professional experience working in higher education student activities providing program/project management or coordination
  • Two (2) years of management/supervisory experience
Position Grade L Starting Salary Expectations Minimum $77,875 to range midpoint of $95,396. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $77875 to $112919 Annual Salary FTE 1.0 PCC Benefits

After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

- 14.67 hours of vacation leave per month
- 1 day of sick leave per month
- 11 holidays
- 3 additional personal leave days per year

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment includes frequent disruptions and changes in priorities. Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Frequent travel to other locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Background Check Required Yes
