The Assistant Director for Student Engagement is a member of the Highsmith Student Union team. The mission of Highsmith Student Union is to provide a dynamic and inclusive experience where quality facilities and services meet engaging programs and activities centered on helping students excel well beyond graduation. The Assistant Director is a generalist position responsible for coordinating, managing, developing, and advising all recognized student organizations of the University.  The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating, advising, and supervising the student programming board, Asheville Campus Entertainment (ACE). ACE is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing quality social, cultural, and educational programming for the university community, including, but not limited to, commuter student programs, Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, and Lawn Party. This person is responsible for strategic program planning, marketing, execution, assessment, and student growth and development to engage students out of the classroom. Other responsibilities include managing the budgets for ACE programming, Weeks of Welcome, and student payroll, as well as developing and maintaining a consistent print and online media presence and additional administrative functions related to programmatic efforts of the Department and University. This person is responsible for coordinating, advising, and supporting the growth of fraternities and sororities at UNC Asheville. The position will advise, coordinate, and guide the Fraternity & Sorority Life program consisting of 4 organizations and provide oversight to the Inter-Greek Council and the Order of Omega. This person will be expected to develop and implement a plan for expanding the Fraternity & Sorority Community through the appropriate courtship of chapters that meet the student need on campus. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Associate Director of Programming. This position will assist in the development of a comprehensive leadership program that is grounded in student learning outcomes and campus needs, and founded on the Social Change Model for Leadership Development.
