Academic Coordinator

Bridges to Adelphi Program

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of the Academic Coordinator are to assist the Associate Director, Senior Associate Director, and Director of the Bridges to Adelphi Program in the overall administration and development of the program. Responsibilities include supervising the Academic Supervisors (see below), managing the graduate student staff (see below); and communicating and collaborating with other campus services (see below).

REPORTS TO: Associate Director

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  1. Collaborate with the Support Supervisor in scheduling of student academic meetings.
  2. Supervise Academic Supervisors, including:
  3. Meet weekly 1:1 to discuss the academic status of all students enrolled in the Bridges Program.
  4. Review Academic Coach, Learning Strategist, and Executive Organizer meeting reports with Supervisors.
  • Develop strategies that coordinate Academic Coaching, Learning Strategy, and Executive Organizing goals.
  • Host weekly or bi-weekly case conference.
  • Manage graduate student staff, including collaborating with the Associate Director on interviewing, hiring, and training of graduate and undergraduate staff.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate interns, as needed.
  • Collaborates with Bridges research coordinator on outcomes and efficacy of the academic support services.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Student Access Office to ensure students are receiving accommodations in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Learning Center and Writing Center to assist with additional tutoring and support for students.
  • Meet with parents and students to review academic progress and identify potential academic obstacles.
  • Meets consistently with students on academic probation.
  • Maintain confidential student records.
  • Present workshops to promote Bridges Support Services.
  • Assist the Director, Senior Associate Director, and Associate Director, as needed
  • Assist staff and students, as needed.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

  • REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
    1. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
    2. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, G-mail, and Adelphi University Programs such as Moodle, Ecampus, CLASS, Degree Audit, MyAULife and Zoom.
    3. Knowledge and experience working with college students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
    4. Strong ability to collaborate with others and work as a team.
    5. Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and 6 days per week.
    6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Communication Disorders, or currently enrolled in graduate program in related fields is strongly preferred.
    2. Minimum of one year of job related work experience required.
    3. Job-related experience working in student services, and higher education is preferred.
