The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) seeks an experienced and innovative leader to serve as its Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). The next VPSA will join UNC at a pivotal moment in its history and will build on a strong foundation to establish a learning and diversity-centered Division of Student Affairs to realize the "Students First" promise of the UNC strategic plan. President Andy Feinstein, Ph.D., and the faculty and staff have purposely examined all aspects of the University's operations and through a comprehensive and participatory visioning and planning process, have developed and approved Phase 1 of the strategic plan Rowing, Not Drifting 2030 – an ambitious agenda for the future. President Feinstein is beginning his fourth year, and first year of his second contract at UNC.

Reporting to President Feinstein and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President will be a strategic and experienced student affairs leader who takes initiative and has the collaborative and interpersonal skills to operate effectively with multiple constituencies and achieve results. As the University prepares for a safe and flexible return to campus for the 2021-2022 academic year, the Student Affairs Division recognizes its particular role in rebuilding and broadening the sense of community student-centered practices that have long guided their work.

The Vice President will be a creative and innovative leader who will bring to the University a deep knowledge of best practices in student affairs and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of student affairs. The successful candidate will have 10 or more years of leadership experience in student affairs and evidence of success in change management and collaborative leadership. The Vice President will have served in progressively responsible supervisory and administrative positions. They will understand the culture of student life on a campus that includes both residential and commuting students, traditional-age students, and adult learners all with a wide array of academic and personal interests and ambitions which inform the work of the division and the University. The division uses a model which grounds its work as an organization in a curricular model with well-articulated learning outcomes associated with its programs and services. The Vice President supervises a talented and dedicated staff who oversee the following units: Campus Recreation, Center for Career Readiness, Counseling Center, Dining Services, Dean of Students Office, Disability Resource Center, Housing and Residential Education, Office of Student Life.

The Vice President will strategically integrate this model across the programs, policies, and activities of the division and serve as a bridge-builder with the faculty and colleagues in the divisions of Academic Affairs, Finance & Administration, University Advancement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Vice President will demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the relationship between academic and co-curricular life; experience with the role of student affairs in a University-wide student success effort; and the diplomatic and leadership skills to work effectively with a highly functional University leadership team. Experience with and commitment to the University's emerging designation as an HSI will be important for the next Vice President. An earned doctorate is preferred; however, candidates with a depth of experience in the field and appropriate professional credentials will be given full consideration. A Master’s degree is required.

Compensation range: $180,000 – $200,000
