  Department Summary
  The Division of Student Life supports the University's academic mission through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success, while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life includes four departments, the University Career Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Erb Memorial Union, and Physical Education & Recreation, and a number of key programs, including the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Student Engagement & Success (Student Government), Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.

The programs reporting to the Dean of Students work with Student Life staff, student groups, and other members of the university community in the development of curricular and co-curricular opportunities that assure the integration of academic and student life.
  
  Position Summary
  Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) is responsible for providing leadership and coordinating the campus response to alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code. Responsibilities include overseeing and administering all aspects of the student conduct system campus-wide, including final decision making, and providing a philosophical, developmental, and educational context for student community standards.
  
  This position is responsible for providing leadership and training to all bodies that have a responsibility in resolving conduct cases. The position provides support and guidance to the campus community on issues of student conduct and is the primary decision maker on conduct case outcomes. The Associate Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards provides direct supervision to 2-3 coordinators.
  
  The Associate Dean serves as a member of the Dean of Students Leadership Team, assisting in strategic planning for the department. As a member of the leadership team, the Associate Dean participates in decision-making that affects the programs under their direct supervision as well as the DOS department as a whole. This position serves on various department, division, and university committees and works with campus partners including students, faculty, staff, alumnae and community members to create and implement national models of excellence for all of the programs under their supervision. The Associate Dean and Director of SCCS represents the Office of the Dean of Students on the university Behavioral Evaluation and Threat Assessment (BETA) team as well as being a part of the on-call team.
  
  The primary purpose of this position within the Office of the Dean of Students is to ensure that students who are accused of violating the Student Conduct Code are given a fair and expedient process. Additionally, whenever possible, this position will ensure that the focus of the process remains educational for the student respondent and that the outcomes remain balanced between the needs of an individual student and those who were affected by the student respondent's behavior.
  
  The University of Oregon Student Conduct Code is intended to inform students, and members of the university community who work with them, of students' rights and responsibilities during their association with the institution and to provide general guidance for enforcing those regulations and policies essential to the educational and research missions of the university. The Associate Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards performs duties as outlined by the UO Student Conduct Code.
  
  Minimum Requirements
  
• Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, educational leadership, counseling, or related field or juris doctorate degree
  
• Four years full time experience, including three years with higher education student conduct processes
  
• Experience with Title IX related processes
  
• Supervision of staff, graduate and/or professional
  
  Professional Competencies
  
• Proven ability in assisting students in unbiased reflection on behavior, ethical decision-making, values, and community membership
  
• Exceptional ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  
• Competency in working under federal, state, and local legislative and legal mandates such as Title IX, the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act, etc.
  
• Create and maintain accurate student conduct records using a student conduct database
  
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, administrators, and other members of the community
  
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations
  
• Commitment to ongoing engagement to understand best practice in student conduct administration in higher education
  
• Demonstrated understanding of residential life, community programming, leadership development, conflict resolution and legal issues in higher education
  
• Ongoing commitment to personal education on legislative and legal issues affecting student conduct
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
• Commitment to fostering an environment of intentional inclusion for all diverse identities
  
  Preferred Qualifications
  
• Experience with alternative dispute resolution methods including but not limited to restorative justice, mediation, or conflict coaching
  
• Experience adjudicating student organization conduct cases
  
• Prior management of academic integrity cases
  
• Familiar with referral processes and typical university campus resources
  
• Experience providing consultation to university faculty, staff and administration
  
• Demonstrated understanding of best practice in student conduct process and/or administration in a higher education setting
