Institutional Advancement Writer

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
UVU is seeking a writer. In this role the writer will generate, write, and edit stories related to Utah Valley University (UVU), its donors, alumni and other programs and issues relevant to UVU's mission.

Develop, write, and edit fundraising materials including newsletters, email appeals, case statements, materials for events, feature stories, and donor impact reports.

Work closely with IA designers on visual concepts, photography, graphics, and layout of both print and web editions.

Track website and email analytics, along with other key performance indicators and help develop and present reports on performance of publications and written content toward departmental goals.

Ability to draft innovative and thought-provoking social media content across all primary platforms.

Provide support for additional editorial needs of the UVU Institutional Advancement Marketing and Strategic Communications Team. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, English, or journalism and 1-2 years of experience in content marketing, writing, and editing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skill in creating professional business correspondence, marketing materials, and reports.

· Skill in writing, editing, and proofreading to include terminology and proposal development and writing.

· Skill using Adobe Creative Cloud and content management systems.

· Knowledge of public fundraising techniques, strategies, and compliance guidelines or constraints.

· Knowledge of customer service and professional ethics.

· Knowledge of web-based resources, including social media.

· Ability to gather and synthesize various types of information.

· Ability to collaborate with various constituents in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, web design programs, project management software, and other programs.

Experience in higher education, public relations, alumni relations, journalism, or advertising.

Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to manipulate a keyboard
