Works with cardiology scheduling team to help schedule tests as needed.

Assists in completion of prior
authorizations.
Follows up on lab and study test results, notifying
the physician and patient as appropriate.
Returns patient phone calls and responds to appropriate Epic
in-basket questions.
Prepares physicians for outpatient clinic appointments including
obtaining detailed medical records for patients with complex
medical histories and ensuring records are scanned into
Epic.
Populates patient history in EPIC prior to
appointments.
Generates patient problem lists as requested by
physicians.
Is aware of the inclusion/exclusion criteria for ongoing clinical
trials to help identify possible research
candidates.
In some circumstances, the RN will also attend clinic with
physicians, obtain/update history and interim concerns from
patients, and help document patient clinic encounters in
EPIC.
Practices nursing per clinical protocols and under the nursing
scope of practice for the State of Maryland. May perform case
management services to patients from initial intake visit through
termination of services. Assists in the development/updating of
unit based protocols, standardized care maps and/or care
plans.

Knows the key formal and informal goals of the division and the
clinic team and asks for guidance appropriately.
Uses own judgment in achieving goals of good clinic
practices, good documentation, and interactions with staff and
health care professionals.

On a regular and consistent basis, exercises excellent clinical and
administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions,
consequences, and results having an impact on people in the
workplace and potential or actual research
subjects.
Uses judgment to maintain and improve the quality of service within
the program.
Exercises mature judgment and remains flexible in stressful
situations.
Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Acceptable completion of the JHH credentialing process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.
- At least one year working in a Cardiology environment strongly preferred.

Ability to analyze data to synthesize and summarize information and
to make judgments regarding patient care.
Ability to use a computer keyboard to input and obtain
data.
Ability to apply principles of evidenced-based practice, scientific
process, and service excellence in practice.
Requires good oral and written communication
skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Must have the ability to inter act with individuals at a variety of
ages and levels.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
