Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health IT Manager, the Business Systems Analyst I will provide technical expertise to guide decisions related to information and process improvement. Additionally, the position will be responsible for the successful design, development, implementation, and support of custom and off-the-shelf software solutions.

The Business Systems Analyst will be tasked with identifying and building business-processes solutions and automations across all aspects of the organization, including Research, Education, Finance, Community Health, Clinical Operations, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity. This will require the position to directly and frequently interface with departmental staff, physicians and leadership to build relationships and provide clear technical guidelines. Additionally, this position will be expected to participate in and contribute to, a wide range of campus groups and communities associated with cloud-based technology solutions.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- Minimum of two years' experience supporting Atlassian Jira Software. Preference given to experience using the Jira Cloud-based system.
- One to two years of previous experience working in a Help Desk or End User Services environment directly supporting users.
- At least two years or more experience working in an academic healthcare environment.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:
- Experience with academic research programs and supporting the technology needs of translational research projects.
- Experience assisting faculty and staff within an academic environment with direct technology needs.
- Experience working directly with technology vendors to evaluate products and solutions.
- Understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the associated technology requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to create good technical documentation.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.

A minimum of 7 years of experience is required for an appointment at the senior level.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid work status to work in the United States.

Effective January 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be updated to require that positions earning less than $35,568 annually be considered non-exempt under FLSA provisions for overtime (see https://www.dol.gov/whd/overtime2019/ ). Based on these rules, if the person selected for this recruitment will earn less than the new salary threshold at January 1, 2020 ($35,568 annually), he/she will be an academic staff non-exempt employee, will be paid hourly, and will receive overtime compensation for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
