Position Summary

Trinity College in Hartford CT, an NCAA Division III, liberal arts college in the New England Small College Athletic Conference ( NESCAC ), is seeking to fill a full-time, Coordinator of Marketing and External Relations. Trinity sponsors 30 varsity teams and supports over 700 varsity student-athletes.

The Trinity College Department of Athletics is committed to creating a community of belonging, acceptance, respect, and understanding of differences for our entire athletic family. In addition to the Athletics Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion ( DEI ) Committee, which meets on a weekly basis and is comprised of administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and other campus partners, the department focuses affecting change in our community and the broader Trinity student body in order to create safe spaces for underrepresented and marginalized groups, dismantle systemic racism, and develop allyship through dedicated education, training, dialogue, and action.

Athletics is within the Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management ( SSEM ). The SSEM team engages students in a cohesive, integrated, and exceptional experience from recruitment through graduation to career formation.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
Marketing and Branding
  • Branding for Student-Athletes and Department
  • Social Media and Marketing Planning for Departmental Initiatives
  • Support for institutional marketing and branding program
  • Educational support for student-athletes around Name, Image and Likeness ( NIL ) activities
  • Work alongside athletics leadership to enhance internal marketing strategies.
  • Provide new media strategies to help enhance the Trinity Athletics brand
  • Create marketing material and promote facilities to potential rental groups to secure bookings for designated athletic facilities.
  • Assist coaches and sports communication staff in creating content to promote gameday information for social media.




External Relations
  • Coordination of career programming for student-athletes in coordination with Center for Career & Life Design
  • Coordination of in-person and virtual events and programming connecting athletic alumni and student-athletes including athletic alumni networking events
  • Graphic design supporting athletic capital campaign and departmental initiatives
  • Assists Athletic Director, coaches and athletic administration in communication and events with athletic alumni


Other Administrative
  • Assist in home event management
  • Assist in hosting conference and NCAA championships as assigned to Trinity
  • Assists with departmental wellness initiatives and wellness requirement administration
  • Assists with team travel and assigned Business Operations tasks
  • Assist in coordinating Student-Athlete Welfare programming in areas such as: Sexual Violence Prevention, Alcohol and Other Drug use, Nutrition, Mental Health and Leadership
  • Participate in SAAC and other student-athlete group meetings and associated activities
  • Assist in coordinating community service opportunities for student-athletes
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and senior athletic leadership
  • Dotted line to communications


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and computer skills. Candidate should be considering a career in college athletics.

Master’s degree preferred, along with experience in higher education and collegiate athletics, working in sports administration or event management, managing complex tasks where attention to detail is essential to success. Experience in marketing, constituent engagement, or comparable also preferred.
