Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
Nursing curriculum development, teaching theory, clinical and simulated laboratory courses in nursing; and service to the Nursing Program. An active program of research and scholarly publication is required. Educational Requirements for the Position
Earned Doctorate in Nursing preferred or Doctorate in related discipline. May be a PhD candidate ( ABD – with contingency of graduation by start of contract). Master’s Degree in nursing required. Experience Required for the Position
A minimum of one year academic experience (University preferred); At least three years of clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Experience in curriculum design and program development; program assessment, review, and accreditation; and experience with varied instructional methods, including distance education, online instruction, and simulation instruction preferred. Other Requirements for the Position
Eligible for registered nurse licensure in Texas. A record of accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, and service in a school of nursing or educational position in a hospital. Special Instructions Summary
The Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position is for a period of one academic year (e.g. nine months) beginning September 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022. The position will have the same role as a tenure ­track professor, but the tenure track time clock will not start during this period. This gives an advantage to the new PhD graduate or the ABD PhD candidate who would like to get experience teaching without having the pressure of meeting scholarship deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to apply and compete for any permanent tenure-track positions if they come open. Open Until Filled Yes
