Job Summary
The Harbert College of Business at Auburn University is searching for a Director of Engagement, Alumni and Community Relations. This position will report directly to the dean and will be responsible for enhancing and expanding existing relationships with alumni and external constituencies through local, regional, national, and international networks. Working closely with the Harbert College of Business Development Officers, Marketing and Communications Team, Career Services Teams and Auburn University Alumni Affairs, this position is expected to provide leadership, strategic vision, and manage day-to-day operations of programs designed to support the college’s advancement goals and overall strategic objectives. The individual in this role will provide leadership to develop and implement programs that leverage networks to connect with and increase diverse and inclusive engagement with 54,000 Harbert College of Business active alumni.
Essential Functions
Specific duties include:
- Oversees and is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of alumni engagement initiatives that support the college’s advancement goals and are in alignment with the university’s strategic plan, on and off campus. Liaises with alumni and advisory boards within the departments of the college.
- Utilizes market research, alumni affairs’ best practices and trends to develop and pilot new programs as well as establish and implement engagement metrics to measure and evaluate effectiveness. Develops and manages external affinity groups based on alumni and student needs.
- Creates and sustains alumni recognition; collaborates with campus teams to create recognition events and maintain awareness of external recognition opportunities to elevate the state, national and global recognition for college alumni.
- Serves as a member of the Dean’s leadership team. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to streamline cultivation efforts to ensure a consistent and professional approach. Serves as a representative of the college or school at all events, internal and external to campus.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and motivating a strong and strategically focused team.

Knowledge of principles and practices of communications and public relations is expected.
Education Level
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Field of Study
Business, Public Relations, Communications, Education, Higher Education, or a relevant field is required.
