Job Description:

The Administrative Assistant position is a full-time career service position. The Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of secretarial duties under the general supervision of the Bursar. The Administrative Assistant will create, manage, and be responsible for preparing and maintaining the calendar of deadlines and important events; perform a wide range of secretarial/clerical tasks, including preparing letters and reports, maintaining files, answering phones, monitoring and ordering supplies, and verifying fees. Additionally, under the supervision of the Bursar, the Administrative Assistant will execute budget expenditures; process payroll and personnel documents; proof items including verification of accounting codes; work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations; develop and maintain office files and various correspondence, and handle a large volume of functions and activities; follow complex instructions; and assist with overall functions of the Cashier’s Office, including providing registration assistance. This position requires availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, during peak registration periods. This position reports to the Bursar.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency, one year secretarial experience, and demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.) in a networked office setting, and internet navigation. College course work may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer excellent customer service experience; experience in a mainframe and microcomputer environment; and experience operating a 10-key calculator.

ANNUAL SALARY: $24,150.00 (12.39/hour)
