KCOM - PAL Mentor (Non Work-Study)



PALs are students who excel in their coursework: they have received a minimum of 85% on the first exam, and maintain an 85% or better in the course(s). PALs are expected to demonstrate how they have learned the material and have been successful in the course. They are not expected to be content experts but learning mentors. They may answer content questions as they are comfortable, but are to refer learners to faculty and/or Learning Advisors when they feel additional support is warranted. PALs can expect to work between 2-5 hours per week. PALs set their own availability and schedule learning sessions directly with learners.

Qualifications: KCOM student in good academic standing, must be earning an 85% or above on all assessments, ineligible for or not currently awarded work-study funds

Skills: No tutoring/ mentoring experience required but is preferred

Special characteristics: Good communicator, organized with your time, and helpful attitude

Times Needed: outside of class time (evenings & weekends)

Days Needed: Monday - Friday / Weekends - flexible hours

Physical Requirements: Normal
