1 Full-time/Part-time Full-Time Position Type Administration Job Summary/Basic Function
The Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer of the college. The position provides leadership and direction in all areas related to instruction, student learning and workforce development. The position is responsible for: the development, coordination and planning of innovative curriculum development, both credit and non-credit; student academic support services; fostering the academic growth and professional development of faculty and staff within academic affairs and academic support, budget management, including grants within academic affairs; administration of academic programs and related activities and student achievement recognition. The position ensures that the college’s strategic priorities, goals and initiatives that relate to instruction, student learning and workforce development are implemented. In addition, the VPAA will oversee the college’s accreditation activities. The VPAA reports directly to the President and serves on the President’s Advisory Council. Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.
• Five years’ experience in community college teaching and demonstrated effective administrative leadership and supervision.
• Committed to the mission and philosophy of the comprehensive community college.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing and promoting alternative delivery methods and instructional techniques
• Experience working with career, technical and workforce development education programs
• Strong communication skills and facility in interpersonal relationships.
• Successful experience in the management of college budgets, including grants.
• Ability to build community alliances.
• Multi-campus leadership experience.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct in all aspects of the work environment.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with internal and external customers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good listening skills.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, maturity, initiative and integrity with a professional image contributing to the success of the College.
• Accept responsibility for professional growth and a demonstrated record of professional accomplishment.
• Ability to identify needed action without continual direction.
• Excellent organization skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of, and ability to work within, continuous improvement systems and working with higher education accreditation bodies.

Work with program leaders in the establishment of community advisory committees. Job Duty
Provide leadership in the assessment of student learning. Job Duty
Work with faculty and instructional leaders in the implementation of technology-enhanced instruction and learning. Job Duty
Oversee preparation of semester course schedules. Job Duty
Provide overall supervision and leadership in the college’s off-campus sites. Job Duty
Implement on a continuing basis the college’s faculty evaluation process. Job Duty
Provide faculty with professional development opportunities that strengthen their teaching and open new venues for student learning. Job Duty
Provide a mentoring program for non-tenured faculty as well as tenured faculty who would benefit from a mentor. Job Duty
Recommend faculty who deserve and qualify for tenure. Job Duty
Administer the full-time and part-time contracts. Job Duty
Recommend to the President the replacement or new full-time faculty hires. Job Duty
Ensure a quality pool of part-time faculty. Job Duty
Administer the budget related to instruction. Job Duty
Provide assistance and oversight of Perkins, TRiO and other grants or federal funding. Job Duty
Prepare annual instructional budget requests. Job Duty
Assure budget funds are spent wisely and for intended purposes. Job Duty
Support and promote Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Job Duty
Promote and participate in achievement award activities. Job Duty
Oversees the College’s accreditation requirements, including submission of reports, Higher Learning Commission site visits, etc.
