About the Position:
Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation provides informational outreach and recruitment services to first-time freshman and transfer students and provides leadership for designing, planning, and implementing university-wide recruitment, yield, and orientation programs to assist students in their transition and adjustment to the campus. Serves local service area high schools and community colleges, regional community partners, and serves as the liaison to the Chancellor's Office on major statewide outreach initiatives such as the Statewide Counselor Conferences and Super Sunday. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Director of Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation provides oversight and management of university-wide orientation programs for first-time freshman and transfer students. Experience CSUF: Become a Titan, The Campus Visit Center, and yield initiatives also fall under the umbrella of Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation. Reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, College Access and Career Pathways. The Director connects programs to divisional and university strategic plan goals and strategies in regards to student recruitment, yield, retention, and graduation. Implements various strategies including counselor engagement in high school, the communication of academic pathways for incoming students through counselor engagement in high schools, and through orientation programs via partnerships with units from both Academic and Student Affairs including the implementation of yield management strategies via partnerships with college-based student success teams. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university in a higher education-related field. A minimum of five years of experience in a college setting providing leadership for a student services program. Familiarity with budget and business financial guidelines to ensure department and programs operate within allocated funding levels.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
