Idaho STARS Lead Quality Child Care Consultant


Location: Off Campus Location - Post Falls

Pay Range: $41,288 annually or higher depending on education and experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:
The Lead Regional Quality Child Care Consultant, in collaboration with the Assistant Director, is responsible for assuring that the assigned regional office staff meet the goals of the IdahoSTARS program. The Lead Consultant is responsible for oversight of their assigned region including daily on-site supervision of regional office staff; ensuring adherence to established processes and procedures; providing consultation services (site visits) to child care providers; providing technical assistance to child care providers and utilizes an early childhood coaching approach; recruiting IdahoSTARS qualified trainers to participate in the Idaho STARS training system; providing resources to child care providers and registry participants; and providing leadership in the development and completion of community outreach events and opportunities in order to increase awareness of the value of quality care and education.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or any bachelor’s degree with at least 36 ECE related college credits.

Experience:
• Five years experience in the field of early care and education which could include experience as a preschool teacher, child care provider, child care director, or educator of young children in a child care or elementary setting;
• Conducting adult workshops and trainings (small and large groups);
• Interpreting federal or state regulations/guidelines;
• Managing office budgets.

Skills Specific to this Position:
Computer skills: Using computers and software for email, scheduling, word processing, data organization, and research.



Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or any master’s degree with at least 30 ECE related credits.

Experience:
• Five years’ experience in the field of early care and education;
• Coaching in an Early Childhood setting;
• Leading or Directing and early care and education program.
• Possess a good understanding of the written and spoken English and Spanish languages utilizing appropriate grammar and accurate spelling;
• Conducting independent research;
• Supervising adults and managing staff.
• Providing liaison with customer/provider groups;
• Gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts;
• Devising solutions to problems;
• Writing concise reports.

Ability to:
• Maintain high level of confidentiality;
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills;
• Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in composing written statements;
• Manage a variety of projects simultaneously;
• Portray a professional demeanor.

Knowledge of:
• IdahoSTARS and the Idaho Child Care Program;
• Quality inclusive child care and developmentally appropriate practices.
