Directs the marketing and public relations initiatives for the university. Works with key stakeholders to develop printed materials, marketing strategies, advertising and recruiting materials. Maintains positive relationships and contemporary knowledge of Central Texas media and other related media personnel and processes. Serves as primary media contact for assigned areas of the university. Prepares press releases for approval, including publicity for upcoming events, current UMHB news, serious incidents, etc. Maintains a positive relationship with and contemporary knowledge of local Chambers of Commerce, economic development associations, and similar community groups. Manages the use of UMHB logos, brands, symbols, royalty contracts and related licensing agreements. Assures the UMHB website's overall design, brand consistency, content and calendar of upcoming events is contemporary, accurate and aligned with the UMHB brand.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. A Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, English or closely related field is required.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years' full-time employment experience in public relations, marketing, journalism or a closely related position is required. Prefer experience in a Christian non-profit and/or higher education environment.
  3. Proficiency in articulating and applying principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, and community relations is required.
  4. Proficiency managing and using social media as a part of an overall organizational communications strategy is required.
  5. Proficiency in planning, organizing, and effectively presenting ideas and concepts to groups.
  6. Proficiency in assimilating information from a variety of sources, analyzing information, and recommending courses of action in a variety of PR and Marketing situations.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  8. Photography, ad copy layout and graphics design skills are preferred.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the use of mass media is required.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
  11. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
  12. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
