The University of Vermont is seeking applications for the position of Business Manager.
As a member of the Division of Student Affairs’ (DOSA) business management team, serves as the business operations lead for the Center for Health & Wellbeing (CHWB), which provides a wide range of student health services including medical, mental health counseling and psychiatry, outreach and education, and athletic medicine. Manages CHWB’s financial resources, human resources, and general business operations in alignment with the strategic direction provided by the department’s directors and divisional and institutional priorities. In collaboration with DOSA and CHWB’s leadership teams, participates in long- and short-range strategic planning including financial and staffing analyses and proposals, and business process development and implementation. Oversees financial and human resource activities within CHWB, prioritizing efficiency, compliance, and responsible resource management. As a Human Resources Representative, liaises with central HR offices and works directly with CHWB staff on HR matters, including performance management, recruiting, retention, and staffing transition planning and processes; and policy interpretation and compliance. On behalf of CHWB, manages complex budgets, contracts and bidding processes, and grant administration, coordinating with departmental staff and central administrative offices. Ensures that CHWB has the necessary processes, training, coordination, and oversight to successfully partner with the Administrative Business Service Center (ABSC); serves as a primary point of contact to the ABSC for CHWB. Participates in facilities, space, and equipment management, including occasional project management or support. May represent CHWB or DOSA on divisional or institutional committees to internal and external constituents. Responsible for promoting an inclusive environment and experience for students and staff of all races, ethnicities, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and ages. Responsible for supporting the mission, philosophies, and priorities of CHWB, DOSA, and UVM.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related area and two to four years’ related experience required. Budget management, coordination and analysis; and human resource and employee relations experience required. Demonstrative ability to actively engage in developing and implementing business processes that promote and support equity and inclusion required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with productivity software , with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications required. Effective organizational skills and ability to think critically, plan effectively, and problem solve.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise HR and financial software such as PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin. Experience working in a health care setting. Experience working in higher education.
