Job Description
The Myers-Lawson School of Construction (Construction Engineering and Management) is currently searching for an Academic Advisor to assist students in achieving educational and career goals through the use of the full range of institutional, business, and community resources.
This position provides academic advising, monitors students' progress, implements engagement events and programs, and assists students with academic difficulties.
Facilitates workshops and seminar classes on academic success strategies and develops training materials and presentations.
Develops and maintains a strategic growth enrollment recruitment plan.
Communicates with internal and external professionals to provide academic information, recruits prospective students, and discusses career opportunities for current students and alumni.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Student Development, Counseling, Construction or related field or Bachelor's degree and equivalent training and/or experience.
Previous experience in academic advising and career planning; leading workshops and seminars; event planning; facilitating group sessions and making presentations.
Demonstrated knowledge and use of computers with the ability to use software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill such as creating, editing, and handling professional
documents and correspondence and managing confidential files and materials.
Advanced Communication and computational skills, as well as a service oriented demeanor.
Professional and team oriented.
Active promoter of diversity and inclusion.
Ability to occasionally work an alternative schedule other than Monday Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to travel for recruiting purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with student information systems, preferably BANNER.
Member of NACADA or like professional organization.
