Job Summary:

The AACSB-accredited School of Business Administration at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, invites candidates for a full-time, tenure track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Marketing beginning in the fall of 2022. The successful candidate is expected to take part in teaching, professional development, academic citizenship and service, and advising as specified below.

Essential Functions:

Teaching—The faculty member is expected to teach 9 credits each semester during the academic year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in the marketing discipline. It is expected that this position holder would teach introductory Principles of Marketing courses with topics including product and brand management, pricing strategy, distribution channels and promotions, along with another marketing course in an area of the faculty member’s expertise. The faculty member is expected to prepare students to successfully work in a culturally diverse, global context. Future department needs may dictate shifts in teaching responsibilities. As part of our commitment to successful starts for our faculty, a one-semester, 3-credit teaching load reduction is available to new faculty hires in their first year. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available but are neither required nor guaranteed.

Professional Development—This position requires that the faculty member remain current with marketing theory and practice and conduct quality research leading to publication in peer-reviewed academic journals in the discipline. Support is available to promote scholarly engagement.

Academic Citizenship & Service—The successful candidate will be a member of the faculty of the School of Business Administration, with full voting privileges in the University faculty assembly and the school, and as such is expected to be a contributing member of the Marketing discipline, the school, and the University, commensurate with their experience level. Participation on University and school committees is required. In addition, Gonzaga University and the School of Business Administration have strong ties to the larger Spokane community; thus, faculty engagement with the local community is also valued and expected.

Advising – There are no student advising requirements for first-year faculty, but academic advising will become part of the individual’s duties following a successful first year.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Marketing – ABD considered, with the expectation that the candidate will have fulfilled all their requirements by July 15, 2022
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quality research leading to publication in peer-reviewed academic journals in the discipline
  • Demonstrated willingness to advance the missions of the University and School of Business Administration


  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a collegial environment


  • Ability to develop a strong network with the business community
