Job Summary

The University of Colorado Population Center (CUPC) in the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a full-time position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate to be involved in an innovative project to understand air quality in schools and associated health impacts among students both in school and homes during wildfire events. Current guidance states that schools should determine whether to close when impacted by wildfire smoke based on whether schools or children’s homes are likely to have better indoor air quality. Most schools and communities, however, do not have reliable information on PM2.5 levels inside and outside of their schools and homes to inform decisions about where children should shelter. We will be collecting and analyzing data to inform the intervention of whether schools should stay open or closed during wildfire air pollution events.

This is a full-time position for three years with an anticipated start date of Fall 2021. The post-doc will be working directly with Dr. Colleen Reid, assistant professor of Geography, who is also a Faculty Fellow of the Institute of Behavioral Science, within which she is involved in the Health and Society program and the CUPC. Dr. Reid is also involved with Earth Lab.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
