Job Description:

The Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) invites applications for one visiting faculty position in the Department of Economics and Finance, starting August 2021. Rank will be commensurate on education, experience and qualifications. Candidates are expected to teach courses in the MS in Business Analytics and undergraduate analytics courses.

 

The ideal candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach data analytics courses; potential courses include introductory Python, data mining, data visualization, and data driven economic analysis.
  • Strong applicants should be versatile, with an ability to teach a variety of courses in the analytics field
  • Contribute to innovative curricular development activities
  • Participate in department, school, and university-level programs and events

 
Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate should have a terminal degree in computer science, economics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • ABDs will be considered.
  • A solid background in statistics and a programing language, such as Python is required.
  • Experience applying analytics and statistics in real-world applications is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will be working with faculty across the business disciplines to cooperatively develop curriculum and co-curricular activities, and to support a growing interest in business/data analytics.

SHU's Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) is AACSB accredited, and enrolls over 2,000 students. It is housed on SHU's West Campus, approximately one mile from the main campus. Opened in Fall 2019, in the former world headquarters of General Electric, the west campus is focused on digital innovation and how it is transforming business in the 21st century. The campus includes state-of-the art labs, equipment, and studios to support research on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, financial computation, machine learning, augmented reality/virtual reality, and e-game design. It also includes a 28-bed hotel, a beautiful ballroom and bars for hosting events, and several commercial-scale kitchens. SHU's Great Rivers golf course, a 20-min drive away, is also a resource for hospitality and event management students.

 

The WCBT offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Economics, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, Finance, Management, Marketing, Sports Management, and Hospitality, Resort & Tourism Management. The WCBT's School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science/Information Technology, Game Design and Development, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The college offers a number of Master's degree programs which include our flagship MBA, MS in Accounting, MS Business Analytics, MS Finance and Investment Management, MS HR Management, MS Digital Marketing, and the Doctorate in Business Administration (Finance). Additionally, the SCSE offers Master of Science programs in Computer Science, Information Technology and Cybersecurity.

 

Nearly sixty-five full-time faculty and eleven staff members bring an impressive range of expertise to the WCBT with terminal degrees and advanced training from leading universities.
