Description / Responsibilities
Arts Program at CI invites qualified applicants for the Spring 2021
semester to teach Theatre in History, an online (asynchronous),
writing intensive, interdisciplinary course for majors and
non-majors. Additional opportunities to teach other
lecture/discussion courses in the future are dependent on
qualifications and enrollment growth.
CI is a Hispanic-Serving Institution with a significant proportion
of first-generation college students enrolled. Many of our students
work full time while carrying a full load of classes. The
successful candidate should be committed to and experienced in
designing and teaching courses with equity, excellence, and empathy
An M.A. from an
accredited institution in Performing Arts/Theater History or a
culturally-responsive, anti-racist pedagogies.
An M.A. from an accredited institution in Performing Arts/Theater
History or a related field.
As a condition of employment, this position will require a
background check. The person holding this position is considered a
'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect
Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set
forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of
Ph.D. or other
terminal degree, or ABD in Performing Arts/Theater History or
closely related field, and experience in teaching theater
histories, dramatic literatures, and performance traditions of one
or more minoritized cultures.
