Position Description / Responsibilities Single Subject Field Supervisors will supervise student teachers in middle and/or high school settings in diverse local schools.
The program offers secondary-level credentials in mathematics, English, the sciences, and history/social science and requires supervisors with expertise in one or more of these areas.
Responsibilities include regular (weekly) classroom visits and evaluations of each teacher candidate as well as communicating with cooperating teachers, School of Education Associate Dean and staff, and Chair of Teacher Credential Programs.
Supervision course assignments include:
EDSS 586 Initial Student Teaching
EDSS 592 Advanced Student Teaching Minimum Degree Requirements Masters from an accredited institution in Education or a related field. Required Qualifications Experience teaching math and/or science in middle and high school grades 6-12.
Minimum of three years of full time teaching experience in culturally and linguistically diverse public school settings.
Appropriate academic preparation for specific content area.
High quality teaching and commitment to student success.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Five or more years teaching experience in culturally and linguistically diverse school settings.
Doctoral degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Evidence of effective mentoring with university students.
Evidence of knowledge and use of research-based practices for teaching in the appropriate field or content area.
Experience with Teacher Performance Assessment.
