Appointment The position we expect to fill is contingent upon enrollment growth and availability of funds. Position Description / Responsibilities The Chicana/o Studies Program at CI is building a pool of candidates who may be interested in teaching on a part-time basis.

We are currently seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach the following courses in AY 2019-20.

CHS 200: Diversity in Latina/o Communities
CHS 343: Health Issues in the Latina/o Community Minimum Degree Requirements Master's Degree in Chicana/o or Latina/o Studies, or Ethnic Studies, or other relevant discipline. Ph.D. or equivalent preferred; ABD considered. Required Qualifications Appropriate training in a field/sub-field related to the teaching assignment; strong commitment to undergraduate education; potential for effective teaching including interactive classroom strategies; and commitment to work in a student-centered multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.

As a condition of employment, this position will require a background check. The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will have at least an M.A., preferably a Ph.D (or ABD), plus a record of effective teaching with a variety of appropriate methodologies; experience in the use of innovative instructional strategies and technologies; an established research agenda that could involve undergraduates; interdisciplinary teaching experience; commitment to ongoing teaching and learning assessment; experience in teaching community service-learning courses; facility in Spanish, or other language skills relevant to our community.
