Position Description / Responsibilities The Chemistry Department at CSU Channel Islands offers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. It provides support courses for other degrees, as well as for general education. Faculty will teach one or more sections of a Chemistry lecture and/or laboratory course including development of a syllabus and course materials. As a department, our faculty are expected to work with each other to provide a consistent and high quality experience for our students. Minimum Degree Requirements M.S. from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline Required Qualifications Required qualifications include a commitment to student success and a student-centered education; a minimum of one year teaching or teaching assistant experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry; experience with, and commitment to, working in a multiethnic, multilingual, and multicultural environment; the ability to collaborate with other instructors; and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline; a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the college level in the disciplines of Chemistry or Biochemistry; a record of effective teaching with a variety of appropriate methodologies; experience in the use of innovative instructional strategies; and experience in curriculum, and laboratory development in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
