Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Structural Geology in the Department of Earth Sciences (Ref.: 504644), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Geology or a closely related field. They should have research experience in structural geology, thermo-kinematic reconstruction, seismology including exploration geophysics, and geo-/thermo-chronology. Past experience in industrial and academic software systems for thermo-kinematic reconstruction; structural geology of the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia; Himalayan orogenesis in the context of slab dynamics; and industry-based and academia-based exploration geophysics including seismic reflection work would be beneficial. The appointee will conduct structural geology and kinematic reconstruction work in the context of Himalayan and Andean orogenic systems. The present research projects explore the development of early Earth and hot terrestrial planets; Himalayan tectonics in Earth system science context; surface salt tectonics; and structural projects with societal impact (e.g., induced seismicity, groundwater dynamics). Consistent with these diverse projects, the group has similarly diverse research interests, skills, backgrounds, nationalities and gender. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
