UH Hilo, College of Business & Economics (CoBE), position number 84511, general funds, full-time, nine-month, tenure track appointment to begin January 2022, pending position clearance and availability of funding.

Duties: Teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in Tourism with an emphasis on Agritourism and Sustainable Tourism, and related subjects as assigned; sustain scholarly activity appropriate to maintain AACSB Scholarly Academic status; mentor CoBE students; engage in other community and University service. Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week. Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports related to teaching and student progress. Work under the supervision of the college dean or designate. Possible evening, weekend, distance learning, and off-campus assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited institution with doctoral work focused on sustainable tourism.  A record of obtaining external funding for agritourism.  Work experience relevant to cultural and environmental sustainability such as conducting Cultural Impact Assessments and/or Environmental Impact Assessments.  Experience running a farming and/or agritourism business with P&L responsibility.  Evidence of ability to maintain scholarly productivity to AACSB Scholarly Academic.  Evidence of teaching in a multicultural setting.  Familiarity with the Hawaii Island business community

Desirable Qualifications:

An established network of contacts and relationships within the Hawaii business and agriculture community including the Hawaii Tourism Authority. Teaching experience in Land Use Planning.  Work experience in Land Use Planning.  Experience developing technology (such as an app or website) supporting sustainable tourism.  Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college undergraduate level in the following: Introduction to Business, International Business Management, Marketing & Management of Travel & Tourism, International Travel & Tourism Policy, Introduction to Sustainable Tourism, Sustainable Agribusiness

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
