Assistant Professor of English

The English department at Salisbury University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in creative writing with a specialization in creative nonfiction. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate level and a strong national publication record. Candidates with demonstrated expertise and interest in areas that can help us serve students across the university are encouraged to apply; such areas include interdisciplinary humanities (humanities intersections with environmental studies, science, business, etc.) and/or areas in our new general-education model (diversity and inclusion, civic engagement, or sustainability).

Area of Specialization: Creative Writing (Creative Nonfiction).

Primary Job Duties: Teaching three four-credit courses per semester in beginning and advanced creative writing, with an emphasis on creative nonfiction, as well as courses that can help support the university’s general education curriculum; helping build the creative writing program, through the design and implementation of new courses, as well as other aspects of curriculum development; engaging in professional development and publication; and participating in the activities and service of the department and the university. Candidates are expected to use effective teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners.

Minimum Qualifications: M.F.A. or Ph.D. degree in creative writing required. Record of successful teaching and of publications with national and/or international distribution.
