Position Summary:

The Institute on Aging is seeking a research specialist that will work closely with investigators on the MIDUS (Midlife in the United States) project. MIDUS is a national longitudinal research study that investigates the human aging process by measuring protein biomarkers expressed by the body, administering physical and psychological tests, and determining socioeconomic factors of all participants. This research position is within the Biological Core, which coordinates the shipment of human samples across multiple sites and runs immunoassays in-house to test hormone, immune and hematological measures.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS or BA in biology/microbiology/immunology/genetics/chemistry

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
-- Experience working in a lab setting.
-- Excellent pipetting/bench skills.
-- Experience working with biological specimens, including blood, urine and saliva.
-- Experience performing immunology assays (ex: ELISA).
-- Experience with data entry (Excel).
-- Position requires strong organizational skills, professional communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Preferred:
-- Experience with statistical programs.
-- Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic tests.
-- Experience with fluorescence assays.
-- Working knowledge of 'omics' fields and platforms, including genomics and metabolomics.
