Position Summary:

This position provides total management for the operation and management of the guestroom operations for the Wisconsin Union hotel and club suites. Management of 66 guestrooms and associated amenities and programs. The 66 guestrooms are located on 2 separate properties, 60 rooms at Union South, and 6 suites at Memorial Union. This position will provide supervision of permanent staff and approx. 30 part time staff. The guestroom operation is open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. An estimated 2.5-3 million dollars revenue per fiscal year.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

5 years' experience in a management or supervisory role for a Hotel or Hospitality location
5 years' experience with Hotel Property Management systems
5 years' experience with oversight of unit budgets
Excellent customer service skills

Additional Information:

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.

Leadership & Engagement is a theme area within Student Affairs at UW-Madison and includes: the Wisconsin Union, Center for Leadership & Involvement, the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and Advancement & Alumni Engagement. All of these Departments are supported by the Wisconsin Union Administration.

Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.
