Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Cybersecurity provides a variety of IT Security services for UW-Madison and UW-System. These services include Risk Management and Compliance (RMC); Security Testing and Cyber Defense (TCD); Monitoring and Incident Response; Security Operations; and Cybersecurity Programs & Business Systems.

This position is responsible for completing work efforts within the Testing and Cyberdefense domain (TCD) of the Office of Cybersecurity with primary focus on supporting the tools and corresponding services provided to our constituents. These tools include but are not limited to those that provide endpoint security (antivirus), management (SCCM, BigFix), data discovery and vulnerability detection (Qualys, Flexera). This position is also responsible for conducting security testing using automated scanners against hosts and web applications in UW campus network. This position will support the overall TCD goals of implementation of security testing and endpoint protection frameworks, processes and tools that proactively identify, assess and manage vulnerabilities.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Qualifications:
1. At least 6 months of experience or training with basic information security practices and controls.
2. Experience in prioritizing tasks and communicating in an efficient and professional manner.
3. Capable of working collaboratively with team members and other University colleagues.
4. Can quickly adapt in constantly-changing and diverse environment.
5. Experience operating established technical process workflows.
6. Ability to serve customers in various communication channels (e.g. tickets, email, chat, phone) in professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience or training with endpoint protection software (antivirus), management (SCCM, BigFix, etc), vulnerability management (Qualys, etc) or data discovery software.
2. Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security, or related field.
3. CompTIA Security+, (ISC)2 SSCP, CISSP, or comparable security-related certification.

This position is an onsite position however, some combination of onsite and remote could be discussed in accordance with policy and subject to approval. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a University provided computer.
