Position Summary:

The Cash Management function is a centralized, campus organization within the Accounting Services unit in the Division of Business Services and is responsible for accounting for cash, check, ACH, wire, and centrally received revenue receipts.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Cash Management and Financial Control, this position is primarily responsible for centralized financial activities related to cash and revenue, preparing and accurately recording journal entries, account reconciliations, development and maintenance of cash related policies and procedures, and oversight of the financial database used to record bank deposit transactions between US Bank and UW-Madison. The Cash Management Accountant will also assist with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) while working closely with the PCI Merchant Senior Manager.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of accounting, finance, or business administration experience.

Required:
1) Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and theories
2) Experience in a treasury or cash management role or ability to handle large volumes of banking transactions, perform daily deposits, account reconciliations, journal entries, unidentified research, and other assigned duties
3) Excellent organization and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and to handle pressure
4) Strong ability to maintain effective working relationships with all staff within a diversified campus community
5) Demonstrates extensive detail-orientation, research and problem-solving abilities
6) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:
1) Knowledge of or ability to interpret the State of Wisconsin statutes, federal regulations, and administrative rules
2) Knowledge of or ability to learn the university, college and department policies, including UW System account code structure
3) Familiarity with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) and understanding of the life cycle of credit card transactions in both functional and technical aspects from web store fronts to third party providers
4) Knowledge and skills working with a variety of financial accounting systems for querying and reporting. Systems may include web-based reporting tools, general ledger financial applications, SFS, WISER, JET tools, banking systems and applications
