Position Summary:

This is a great opportunity for somebody with experience in basic molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, working with the laboratory mouse, and/or laboratory management. The principal investigator (Pl) seeks an experienced Research Specialist as they establish their laboratory and grow their research program. The Research Specialist will work with the PI and ultimately with graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, focusing on the basic biology underlying hematopoiesis.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Required Education:
- BS/BA.

Preferred Education:
- BS/BA in the Biological Sciences.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Experience:
- One (1) year of experience in a research laboratory as either a student or employee.

Preferred Experience:
- Applicants with research experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred: molecular biology techniques, including cloning and RT-PCR; cell culture and growth of mammalian cells. Experience with ChIP is a plus. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, keep a detailed lab notebook, learn new techniques, and train others.

Desired Attributes:
- Personal initiative, independence, strong organizational abilities and enthusiasm for laboratory research.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience. Only one year of research laboratory experience as a student or employee is required. If appointment at the senior level is desired, then a minimum of 7 years' experience is required.
