Job Details

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks an energetic individual for a Lecturer (all ranks considered) in our freshmen engineering program and our newly launched Learning and Teaching Hub.   A minimum of a Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.  A Ph.D. in engineering and teaching experience in large classes is preferred.

At ASU, we are in the process of transforming engineering education.  As a part of this process we have created a team of engineering education specialists who will utilize best practices to develop and instruct innovative curriculum experiences that can be integrated into existing and new courses early in our engineering programs, and participate in our many academic success programs.  Job duties include teaching FSE 100 in fall and spring semesters along with other assigned courses both in person and online; utilize best practices to develop and instruct innovative curriculum experiences that can be integrated into existing and new courses early in our engineering programs; participate in ASA academic success programs; support recruiting and K-12 activities and serve on Fulton and ASA committees.  The successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching that incorporates active learning, will share our passion for engineering education and will be effective in a highly collaborative environment.

As part of the newly created FSE Learning and Teaching Hub, the incumbent will also serve as a pedagogical champion and catalyst for change within the FSE community. They will share pedagogical best practices with their colleagues, mentor peers on instructional techniques and educational technology, actively contribute to the New Faculty and Teaching Communities of Practice through ideation, workshop leadership, instructional consultation, and active dissemination of research-based educational practices including active learning, inclusive teaching practices, and formative feedback. They will also serve in an advisory capacity to the L&T Hub’s leadership team, develop professional development resources related to instruction, and participate in the L&T Hub’s initiatives to recognize faculty excellence through instructional award nominations and faculty spotlight recognition. 

Appointments will be made at the rank of Principal Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer based on the candidate’s experience and accomplishments.
