Description

The Haslam College of Business is soliciting applications for three tenure-track faculty positions in Marketing at the Assistant, Associate and/or Full Professor level. To support the department’s continued growth, the college anticipates hiring one or more faculty members with research expertise in each of the following areas: empirical modeling and behavioral marketing.

The Marketing Department in the Haslam College of Business includes 18 full-time faculty members (11 tenure track and 7 non-tenure track), with diverse areas of specialization. The department’s tenure track faculty have a demonstrated record of success publishing in the field’s premier journals and are highly active and visible in the discipline (e.g., as journal editors, award-winning reviewers, and special interest group leaders). The department is home to a vibrant doctoral program and a multi-track undergraduate program that serves students with interests in digital marketing, professional selling, and customer and brand strategy. A specialized Master of Science in Marketing program is planned for launch in fall of 2022.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD (or must earn a PhD prior to the position start date) in Marketing or a directly related field. Strong preference will be given to (1) early career applicants with a demonstrated ability to publish in the field’s premier journals, or (2) established scholars with a reputation for research excellence in one or more areas of marketing. Applicants with varied teaching interests in the marketing field will be considered, with preference given to those with experience teaching at the undergraduate and master’s level. Evidence of success conducting funded research is preferred but not required.

Selected candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing (new tenure track hires teach three courses per year), engage in service commensurate with their rank in the department, and conduct research that demonstrates thought leadership in their chosen area of inquiry. Candidates hired at the rank of Associate and/or Full professor are expected to advise and mentor doctoral students.

 Application Instructions

Only completed applications submitted via Interfolio will receive consideration. Applicants should include a cover letter, research statement, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for three professional references.

The faculty search committee plans to conduct interviews and complete the selection process during the fall 2021 term. Selected candidates will be appointed to a full-time tenure-track position effective August 1, 2022. Initial review of application materials will begin on August 14, 2021, but the review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their materials prior to the initial review date in order to ensure full consideration of their application.

If you have any questions about the position or application process, please contact the search committee co-chairs, Dr. Kelly Hewett (khewett@utk.edu) and/or Dr. Jonathan Hasford (jhasford@utk.edu).
