West Virginia University School of Nursing (SON) is seeking applications for a Director of Evaluation (DOE). The DOE reports to and is evaluated by the Dean, following consultation with the Associate Dean of Academics and the Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs regarding performance in day-to-day work activities. The DOE is responsible for maintaining a system to manage the evaluation process for SON courses for the campuses of the School of Nursing (Morgantown, Charleston, Potomac State, WVUIT and Bridgeport).

In order to be sucessful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Act as Chairperson of the Outcomes Assessment Committee (OAC). As Chairperson, the DOE develops evaluation policies and evaluation procedures and presents these to the OAC for use by all WVU School of Nursing campuses. Additionally, the DOE provides guidance in developing the evaluation protocol for each program offered by the SON, those being the BSN; BA/BS to BSN; RN to BSN; MSN; Post Master's Certificate program; DNP, and PhD.
  • Manage the process of the evaluation protocol for each program offered by the SON. This includes but is not limited to the faculty evaluation of courses and the analysis of the University administered eSEI data used by the SON; the management, analysis and distribution of results of clinical surveys e.g., SECEE and exit surveys.
  • Collect data completed by students for evaluation and assure that analysis is completed in a secure environment. Analysis includes but is not limited to, identifying strengths and areas for improvement of the applicable courses, and providing historical data of same to Curriculum Committees and others as requested. The analysis performed by the DOE may result in changes to curriculum as determined by the Curriculum Committees. WVU School of Nursing administration relies upon the expertise of the DOE to assure psychometrically sound and appropriate evaluation processes.
  • Serve as contact person for the management and administration of outside vendors involved in the evaluation process for the SON. This may include companies such as Educational Benchmarking, Inc. ("EBI"), an affiliate of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Digital Measures, and/or ATI. This responsibility also includes the management and administration of standardized testing in the School, and analysis of testing data.
  • Make judgments as to which aspects of data reports merit communication to the OAC and the Curriculum Committee of the WVU SON and identify trends that warrant communication to those same committees.
  • Respond to requests for data, as well as preparation of data reports and present findings (both positive and negative) in the form of a summary report on at least an annual basis.
  • Provide Student Services department support equal to one day per week, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs. This DOE position is involved in the administration and maintenance of the SON student records database, and also the faculty records database for the SON. This database is comprised of academic, geographic, and demographic information. The DOE audits the student data base and provides advice and guidance concerning updating student records at a minimum of monthly.
  • Following approval of the Dean or delegated administrative official, supply student data to state regulatory authorities (e.g., WV RN Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses, and the WV Higher Education Policy Commission), AACN, WVU BOG, and the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education ("CCNE''), the WVU SON accreditation authority, as part of normal reporting requirements and responds to inquiries made by these same entities.
  • Act as the Dean's liaison for all surveys submitted to the WVU School of Nursing related to evaluation and others as requested by the Dean, normally two per month. These surveys are received from both domestic and international entities. The DOE assures that data submitted in response to these surveys are valid and reliable.

Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Nursing or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Higher education experience highly desimble, particularly in the areas of student evaluation.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the following:
    • Database administration (ACCESS) and other computer processing experience.
    • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
    • Report writing and presentation of collected data.
    • Project management.
    • Progressively responsible work experience that demonstrates the ability to handle a variety of work assignments within a complex organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing skills.

  • Ability to think creatively and independently, while working within a group.
  • Ability to problem solve in complex situations.
