ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The West Virginia University (WVU) Division of Physical Therapy is seeking a clinical faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank, non-tenure, to serve as a faculty member in a new Orthopaedic Residency. With the opening of a faculty practice facility last year, the program is excited to begin offering post-professional education opportunities. This position will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Physical Therapy by preparing physical therapy practitioners who have post-professional training and who are prepared to sit for board specialty examination in an advanced practice area of musculoskeletal physical therapy. This faculty member will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a clinical case load representative of the orthopedic physical therapy practice and serve as primary mentor to the residents in the program. In this capacity, the residency faculty member will be involved with the development of education opportunities for the resident, including arranging off-site rotations where appropriate. This faculty will also assist the Residency Director in the preparation and initial submission of the residency accreditation document. In addition to this primary responsibility of resident supervision, this faculty will provide some direct education to entry level physical therapy students on topics related to professional roles and fundamental practice skills. This faculty member will work with the Division’s musculoskeletal curriculum team to promote high quality entry level and post professional education.
