Job Description

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems department in the College of Aviation at our Daytona Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for the position of UAS Simulation and Fight Instructor.

The UAS Simulation and Flight Instructor will instruct students using Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) simulators and small UAS including the Sense Fly eBee and UAV Factory Penguin C. The UAS flight instructor will work with instructional designers for the development of lesson-ware and support small UAS flight operations with students.

The UAS Simulation and Flight Instructor will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Facilitate 100% of scheduled simulation events
  • Support 100% of the ‘deployment’ in the capacity of UAS Operator Instructor or other crew positions as required
  • Conduct debriefings and grading of individual student training events
  • Assist in the design, development, evaluation, and review of instructional content
  • Assist with the review and development of operational procedures
  • Participate in UAS Flight Operation safety reviews
  • Help achieve a Penguin C Sortie rate of 100%
  • Minimal oversight of student laboratory and teaching assistants
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a closely related field, with 1-3 years’ experience operating unmanned systems.

  • Remote Pilot Certificate per 14CFR Part 107
  • Qualified to Operate a Penguin C or Comparable Piccolo Command Center controlled unmanned system.
  • FAA Certified Remote Pilot, maintain currency in department unmanned aircraft.
  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.
